Toboganing & Hiking

Winter Fun for the Whole Family

Get back to nature with a stroll through the forests and lakes of this lovely part of the world.
Although many people come to Engadin for skiing and snowboarding, there's plenty of opportunity to indulge in more leisurely pursuits and simply enjoy the beautiful environment at your own pace. With frozen lakes, towering mountains and wonderfully clear alpine light, it is also a photographer's dream.

Seenweg St. Moritz to Maloja
The perfect example of the Engadin St Moritz region's natural beauty, this walk is an ideal way to start your break in the region, or alternatively a way to say goodbye on your last day.
Beginning at Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains, the route passes by the Olympic ski jump, Lej Marsch, and on down to Lej Champfer. Following the trail to Surlej takes you along Lake Silvaplana, and eventually the opportunity to walk over the frozen Lake Sils to Maloja. The frozen lakes are especially beautiful as the sun sets before you treat yourself to a well-deserved meal in town.

Philosopher’s Trail Muottas Muragl
This gentle trail is great for less experienced hikers, stretching around 7km (4.3 miles) to Lej Muragl. It is signposted with inspirational quotes from well-known philosophers, so you'll have plenty to contemplate as you enjoy your walk.
Plan your routes and discover more with this list of hiking trails and slegding runs.

Muottas Muragl Toboggan Run
There are several toboggan runs to discover in the region, and if you have never jumped in a toboggan before, you will find it is just as much fun as it looks. This run is the fastest in the region, and offers 20 curves and a hair-raising 705m vertical drop as it travels through pine larch forests – fantastic for thrill-seekers, and one run won't be enough! It is easily accessible via funicular railway, and the panoramic views of the Upper Engadin are well worth the trip too.

Toboggan Run Bergün
This 5km (4 miles) run is a great experience for the whole family, stretching from Preda to Bergün along the snowy expanse of the Albula Pass road. While the run itself is sure to be an unforgettable highlight of your break, the journey there is just as exciting: the Rhaetian Railway passes through a UNESCO World Heritage site that has been described as something from a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. The railway stations at Preda and Bergün each helpfully offer their own toboggan rental services.

Moving from the thrilling descents and tranquil paths of Tobogganing & Hiking, lace up for some Ice-skating and Curling. Glide across the ice in the open air or under a starlit sky, a magical experience for couples, families, or solo adventurers. For those seeking strategy and teamwork, curling provides an engaging alternative, offering fun and competition on the ice.
