A Perfect Start in the Mountains

The day begins with the hiss of a cable car door sliding shut at the Furtschellas station in Sils. As you ascend to 2,800 metres, the landscape unfolds around you—snow-blanketed valleys, frozen lakes and clusters of villages huddled under the winter sky. The air is crisp, and the mountains call. Your first challenge awaits—a scenic descent to Alp Surlej, the perfect warm-up for what lies ahead.

At the base, the journey continues with another lift—this time, all the way to the Corvatsch summit, perched 3,303 metres above sea level, making it the highest station in the Eastern Alps. Here, you pause for a moment, struck by the 360-degree views stretching across the valley below. The silence at the top feels almost sacred, broken only by the gentle wind brushing the peaks. Below you, the legendary Hahnensee piste beckons—a winding, 9-kilometre descent leading down to St. Moritz Bad.

The Thrill of Hahnensee and Beyond

With each turn on the Hahnensee, the world seems to shift. Snow sparkles like diamonds under the winter sun, and the wind carries a scent of pine from nearby forests. You stop at one of the panoramic viewpoints along the way, letting the beauty sink in. Across the valley, the slopes of Corviglia shimmer in the distance—the next stage of your adventure.

After reaching St. Moritz Bad, it’s time to swap peaks. Just a short walk across the road, the lift to Piz Nair carries you effortlessly to new heights. As the gondola rises, your heart races with excitement: the slopes here have written skiing history—from World Cup races to Olympic events. At the summit, the views are breathtaking, stretching across the snow-covered Engadin lakes. It’s hard to resist the urge to linger, especially when the restaurant at the top offers pasta with a view. You sit for a moment, recharge with a plate of spaghetti and soak in the panoramic scenery.

The combination of delicious food and spectacular views makes every stop a memorable part of the experience. The Grand Finale—Celerina Descent

With the last rays of sunshine casting long shadows across the valley, you tighten your boots for the final leg of your journey. The wide slopes of Corviglia feel endless beneath your skis, and it’s hard not to make a few extra runs just for the joy of it. Eventually, you glide through sparse larch forests and rocky outcrops, the view of Celerina village opening up below. Tired but exhilarated, you carve your way down the final stretch, your adventure nearly complete.

As you reach the valley floor, the day’s highlights flash before your eyes—the thrilling runs, the stunning vistas and the small moments of joy shared with nature. Before heading back, you pull out your phone to capture one last photo, a memory to share with friends and family. Snow Safari 2024—a day you’ll never forget.
