A Legacy of Elegance: The Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz
Nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz is more than just a destination—it’s a journey through time, steeped in history, luxury and tradition. Since opening in 1864, the hotel has stood as a beacon of European elegance, attracting royalty, high society and adventurers alike to its storied halls.
Long before the hotel was conceived, the mineral-rich Mauritius spring—discovered over 3,000 years ago—had already established St. Moritz as a place of healing. The famed physician Paracelsus praised the spring’s therapeutic properties, inspiring 19th-century aristocrats to travel across Europe to experience its restorative waters. To this day, guests of the hotel can still benefit from these ancient springs at the hotel’s spa, where a private fountain offers direct access to the healing waters.
Throughout its history, the Grand Hotel des Bains has undergone multiple transformations, each adding new layers of charm and sophistication. The first renovations in 1887 gave the hotel the appearance of a northern Mediterranean palace.
In 1906, the iconic neo-baroque towers were added, complemented by corner bay windows with neo-Gothic elements, solidifying the hotel’s architectural grandeur. In 1927, further expansions revitalised the lounge, entrance areas and the hall for the now-iconic Cà d’Oro restaurant.
A pivotal moment came in 2001 when the hotel underwent a major restoration, carefully balancing its original elegance with contemporary luxury. Renowned Viennese architects meticulously restored the facade, interiors and historic elements using old photographs and etchings as references. The result is an exquisite blend of old-world grandeur and modern comfort, where pastel tones on the facade reflect the alpine serenity and light-blue shutters invite guests into a world of refined relaxation.
The hotel’s evolution continued in 2021 with the opening of Da Adriano, an intimate Italian restaurant inspired by the spirit of traditional trattorias, led by the charismatic Adriano Feraco. In 2022, the hotel unveiled bold renovations of its lobby and bar, new luxury shopping spaces and updates to the main restaurant, Les Saisons.

The hotel also introduced an outdoor pool offering panoramic mountain views—an oasis of tranquillity in the heart of St. Moritz.
The story doesn't end there. In winter 2024/25, the hotel will open the doors to its most ambitious addition yet: Billionaire – Dinner Show & Club Experience.
