Riga, 19 July 2024 – On 18 July, 2024, five-star hotel Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga hosted an exclusive event at its rooftop venue, Stage22 Bar & Restaurant, to mark a collaboration with renowned Latvian artist Gundega Dūduma. The event celebrated the opening of an art exhibition "Uncovering Hidden Gems by Gundega Dūduma." The occasion was a feast for the senses, featuring colourful paintings, a vibrant atmosphere, and the presence of elegantly dressed celebrities and influencers. Guests were treated to a stunning panoramic view of the city, heightening the magic of the night.
The highlight of the evening was a performance by acclaimed cellist Max Beitan, a virtuoso who has won 18 international competitions, including five Grand Prix Awards. Beitan, known for his extensive tours across Europe, the US, and Asia, captivated the audience with his masterful repertoire. Performing famous melodies like Passacaglia by Handel Halvorsen, he engaged the audience, whilst guests enjoyed colourful cocktails and the beautiful artwork of Gundega Dūduma. The evening seamlessly blended exceptional music, striking art, and an elegant ambiance.
Gundega Dūduma’s artwork is a celebration of life's beauty, exploring the inherent contradictions within the human experience such as beauty and darkness, love and loneliness, and peace and chaos. Her work reflects a profound gratitude to the universe and to God for her talent, offering a unique and compelling perspective on the world. Dūduma's distinctive visual style and techniques exude powerful and positive energy. Utilising oil paints, she meticulously layers’ emotions to engage viewers in profound emotional experiences. Her preferred medium, charcoal, creates velvety ebony tones that contrast beautifully with gold, silver, and vibrant hues.
Each of Dūduma's canvases is crafted personally from textured fabrics, providing a rich foundation for an immersive artistic experience. She carefully selects high-quality furniture fabrics, sewing them together to create dynamic visual narratives from various perspectives. Incorporating elements such as pearls, gold, silver leaf, and bronze tones, her work achieves a multidimensional, captivating vibrancy.
Gundega Dūduma received her formal education at the Jan Rozentāls Art School in Riga, the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, Germany, and the Art Academy of Latvia, where she majored in Painting. From a young age, she was captivated by art and always knew she would pursue a career as an artist. Painting has consistently brought her peace and joy, affirming it as her true calling.
The exhibition "Uncovering Hidden Gems by Gundega Dūduma" will be available for viewing at Stage22 Bar & Restaurant until the end of October 2024. Visitors have the unique opportunity to purchase the showcased paintings, making a visit to this exhibition a must for art enthusiasts and collectors alike.
