Relax and recharge – Discover the serenity of saunas at Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin
Finnish Sauna
The Finnish sauna is the ideal place to relax, relieve stress, strengthen the respiratory system, relax the muscles and oxygenate the tissues. The dry and intense heat envelops the body and mind at 80-100 °C, cleansing and revitalising, while the wood provides an intense sensory experience. The humidity does not exceed 10-20%, except when water is poured onto the hot stones of the stove. Sometimes balsamic essential oils such as pine or eucalyptus essences are added to the water, but fresh essential oils such as lemon and cool mint are also ideal for the warmer months. What sensations are triggered? You experience a surge of pure energy, accompanied by dry and intense heat that penetrates the body and causes rapid and profuse sweating.
The Finnish sauna has countless psychophysical benefits:
Bio Sauna/Soft Sauna
A bio sauna is a gentler version of the Finnish sauna. Here, a comparatively lower room temperature of around 55 degrees Celsius is generated with a combination sauna heater. In contrast to other types of sauna, the humidity is higher at around 40 to 55 per cent. In addition, the bio sauna incorporates different phases of sweating and cooling, which contribute to its health-promoting and skin-caring effects. Over the years, it has become more and more established and can now be found in numerous spas and sauna centres.
Another special feature of the bio sauna is that no infusions are used due to the lower temperatures. Instead, a small container is inserted in the sauna, which can hold various essential oils. These oils provide a lasting, pleasant fragrance. Depending on which aroma is used, different parts of the body or senses can be stimulated. A bio sauna often also has special lighting, which enables light therapy and can be combined with sound therapy.
Steam Bath
Originating from the ancient hammams, the steam bath aims to strengthen and regenerate not only the body but also the mind. The Starpool steam bath revives these ancient rituals with charm and elegance.
The intensity of the heat and the lightness of the steam combine in the steam bath to create a regenerating oasis of absolute psychophysical well-being. Air, steam and fragrances combine to gently massage the skin, facilitating natural exfoliation and promoting perspiration. The 45° C temperature and 98% humidity naturally relax the body and promote the production of serotonin, the happiness hormone.
And the sensations? You experience a cloud of steam, water droplets that settle on the skin and soften it, while breathing is eased by inhaling the vapour.
Benefits
Ice Fountain
The ice fountain is the ideal way to cool down and rebalance your body after the intense heat of the Finnish sauna. The basin contains ice crystals, which, when massaged over the entire body from the feet to the neck, help to equalise the body temperature. It provides a comprehensive and revitalising wellness experience.
Plunge Pool
A plunge pool with ice-cold water guarantees an immediate, intensive effect after the Finnish sauna. The body is gradually immersed from the feet to the head. The application has a toning effect, causing blood vessels to contract and the skin to become firmer. A plunge pool is the ideal solution for rebalancing bodily functions after exposure to heat.
Shower One
Experience a Shower with a Cold Blade, a Summer Rain Shower and Cold Mist
A unique sensory experience that combines the power of water with the effectiveness of a natural massage, the Cold Water Blade regenerates the mind and body with an energising jet of water that has an invigorating effect. Thanks to its cascading cold jet, it provides an ideal cold reaction in combination with the dry heat of the Finnish sauna.
A warm rain shower with a passion fruit fragrance offers a sensual experience with revitalising and invigorating effects.
The refreshing cold mist shower, with its cold water droplets, lime fragrance and green LED light, offers a multi-sensory experience with revitalising benefits. The cool rain shower is particularly suitable after a soft or salt sauna, as well as after steam and thalasso baths.
