Federal Press Ball 2025

Berlin, 31 March 2025 – Now in its tenth year of successful cooperation with the German Federal Press Conference eV, the team at the iconic, elegant Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is delighted to once again showcase its award-winning event services for the 72nd Federal Press Ball on 4 April 2025. Under this year's motto ‘For Democracy. Strengthening Press Freedom.’, the annual social event brings journalists and media professionals together with personalities from politics, business and culture to exchange dialogue in a grand ball atmosphere.

The culinary concept of the luxury hotel, with 14 live stations, once again reflects the variety of flavours of international specialities, which journalists and, in particular, foreign correspondents are likely to recognise as popular, country-specific classics.

‘We can hardly wait to treat the about 2,300 grand ball guests to another unforgettable evening full of moments of pleasure. The entire Adlon will shine glamorously in all its outlets with the theme of a Federal Press Ball and offer exciting party highlights, such as The Big Band of the German Armed Forces, a karaoke stage, several DJs, a casino, a candy bar, various photo activities and cosmetics professionals for makeup touch-ups,’ says Christina Reschke, project manager of the major event and experienced Assistant Director of Group & Event Sales for the traditional hotel at the Brandenburg Gate.

With a team of around 100 chefs, Chef de Cuisine Stephan Eberhard, together with Banquet Chef Eric Kissmann and Chef Patissier Steffen Holle, will present dishes such as Brandenburg burrata mousse with wild garlic, coq au vin, pink lamb rack with bulgur, bouillabaisse, tarte tatin with apple chutney and goat's cheese espuma, grilled sea bream with fennel and risotto and pulled beef with pomme dauphine and lime cream. Lovers of the finest sushi can look forward to variations of the seafood classic prepared live in front of their eyes. Of course, the Adlon currywurst, the coveted signature dish of the five-star hotel's Lobby Lounge & Bar with its many regular guests, will also be served from 23:30, accompanied by a milk roll. The large, creative selection of vegetarian and vegan delicacies, such as beetroot hummus with falafel, roasted aubergine with saffron cream and pine nuts, miso okra with quinoa or gnocchi with ratatouille, is also impressive and fulfils the dining wishes of a growing target group of guests.

Those gourmands with a sweet tooth can choose between raspberry and red currant mousse, vanilla ganache, lychee and passion fruit mousse, gelato sandwiches or creamy gelato with Sicilian pistachios and Baumkuchen sponge cake, all served live in front of the guests. Also available are the fruity sorbets with Femminello lemon, grilled pineapple, English ‘tea time’ treats, coconut yuzu tartlets and Adlon chocolate cookies with pecans, so guests can simply savour all the handmade, sweet works of art. The dance floor of the stylishly decorated and colourfully illuminated ballroom guarantees a cheerful opportunity to dance away the unnecessary calories to big band pop music with powerful hit singers.

For Jonas Zörner, the new head chef of the 2-star Michelin gourmet restaurant Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer since February, the Federal Press Ball at the legendary Adlon is an eagerly awaited premiere. On this evening, he and his team will treat the 300 or so guests of honour in the Palaissaal to a three-course gourmet menu created especially for the occasion, including cream of cauliflower soup with Argentinian wild prawns, braised beef breast with green asparagus and yuzu with Earl Grey tea, vanilla and basil. A vegetarian variation of the menu is also available.

Following the gourmet dinner, the official opening of the 72nd Federal Press Ball will take place in the ballroom. Germany’s Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the wife of the Chairman of the Federal Press Conference, Regina Kramer, as well as Chairman Mathis Feldhoff and Elke Büdenbender, the wife of the Federal President, will once again open the ball with a traditional waltz. The event is not expected to end until the early hours of the morning.
