Vignette & Toll

If you are arriving by car from Austria or travelling to Austria during your stay, it is important to know that vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tonnes require a toll sticker (Vignette) to drive on motorways and high-speed roads in Austria. The easiest place to get a toll sticker is at a local petrol station. Before driving on these roads, the sticker must be affixed to your windscreen. If you do not wish to purchase a toll sticker, please take the Bad Reichenhall exit (coming from Munich). You can find more information on the road toll and toll sticker here.

In addition to the toll sticker, there is also a toll payable in Austria when driving through certain tunnels and on certain mountain pass roads. Some roads in Germany, such as the Rossfeld Panoramic Road, are also subject to a toll.

Restaurants & Spa

To meet your wishes regarding treatments at Kempinski The Spa and your desired reservation at the restaurants, we recommend and request reservations in advance.
Please note that short notice requests and reservations may not always be possible depending on availability.

Road Conditions

Particularly in the winter months, you should expect snow and ice on the roads in Berchtesgadener Land. We therefore strongly recommend fitting your car with winter gear. On some mountain roads and mountain passes, snow chains are also mandatory for certain vehicles. Please inform yourself about the weather before your arrival.

In the event of heavy snow, please access the hotel via the “Oberau” route.

Smoking

Under German law, smoking is prohibited in enclosed premises accessible to the public. This means that smoking is not permitted in restaurants, public buildings and on public transport. Consequently, smoking is prohibited at the Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden. In addition, smoking cannabis is not permitted in the entire hotel, in all guest rooms and public areas as well as on the entire hotel grounds. Thank you for your consideration.
