Fuzhou, 18 April 2024 – Kempinski Hotel Fuzhou welcomes newly appointed Western Executive Chef Michael Wang.
Originally from Beijing, Michael brings a wealth of international experience to his new role. His culinary journey began with a formative two-year internship at the Vocational School in Villingen, Germany. Upon his return to China after graduation, Michael kick-started his professional career at the Kerry Centre Hotel Beijing. Over the past two decades, he has honed his craft at prestigious international hotels across Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao and Shanghai. Michael’s diverse background also includes serving as Ambassador Chef at the Uruguayan Embassy in China and co-owning a restaurant. Joining Kempinski Hotel Fuzhou is Michael’s second professional chapter in Fuzhou, having been drawn back by the dynamic culinary scene and his fond memories of the city. His extensive experience has equipped him with a remarkable ability to adapt quickly to new environments and stay ahead in the competitive food and beverage industry. At Kempinski Hotel Fuzhou, Michael is set to elevate the dining offerings at K Coffee and Yunge Grill, enhancing the Western cuisine repertoire.
With his internship experience in Southern Germany, Michael gained proficiency in a variety of cuisines, including German and Italian, with his specialty being authentic pizzas. When he’s not in the kitchen, Michael enjoys delving into the world of artefacts, a hobby that offers him both relaxation and reflection.
“Please join us in welcoming Chef Michael Wang to the Kempinski Hotel Fuzhou family, where his expertise and passion for culinary excellence will undoubtedly enrich our guests’ dining experiences.” said Eric Jan van Haastrecht, General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Fuzhou.
