Bangkok, 15 December 2021 – Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok received the internationally recognised LEED Silver certification as part of the Sindhorn Village complex. Altogether, Sindhorn Village is the largest hotel and residential campus in ASEAN with LEED certification, and Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok is part of the first hotel grouping in Bangkok that is LEED certified.
Developed by the US Green Building Council, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) framework is now the global standard for measuring a construction’s sustainability and environmental impact. Projects around the world apply so that they can be acknowledged for being resource- and energy-efficient. A building must meet stringent requirements for points to achieve LEED certification, after which people will know that it conserves water and energy, avoids waster, and is contributing overall to a more sustainable and environmentally sound community.
Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok epitomise the LEED vision with resource-saving, sustainable construction, design, and practices. This includes conserving then replanting older growth trees from the original site to preserve the area’s native plant life as well as using triple-layered glass to insulate the building from noise and heat thereby not only soundproofing the rooms and suites but also reducing air conditioning costs.
“This certification affirms our commitment to doing our part to promote a sustainable, eco-friendly Bangkok,” stated Thaddaeus Weiss, Hotel Manager of Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. “LEED certification is the recognised around the world, and now we are proudly part of a distinguished cohort who promotes environmentally responsible practices that contribute to our surrounding community as a whole.”
