30 Years of Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden

Dresden, 27 March 2025—One year after its grand reopening in February 2024, Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Opened on 31 March 1995 as the first five-star hotel in the Free State of Saxony, the hotel reflects on three decades of distinguished hospitality.

Originally commissioned in 1705 by Augustus the Strong as a city palace for his mistress, Anna Constantia, Countess of Cosel, the historic building stood in ruins for nearly 50 years after the Second World War. Reconstruction began in 1993, and on 31 March 1995, the property was officially inaugurated as Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden.

Now, 30 years later, the hotel stands resplendent once again. Following an extensive one-year renovation completed in February last year, the property seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, offering guests a refined and contemporary experience.

To mark this milestone, guests can enjoy a special anniversary offer: a 10% saving on the best flexible rate, plus a EUR 50 hotel credit for the hotel’s culinary experiences, for stays until 25 November 2025. The offer also includes complimentary access to the spa and wellness area.

Grand Palais View Room, Guest Room, On-Site

Throughout the year, guests can indulge in exclusive anniversary celebrations across the hotel. At Amalie Pâtisserie & Lounge, specially crafted anniversary cakes will be available, including bespoke cakes made to order. Additional events and offers will be unveiled throughout the year, welcoming both guests and Dresden residents to partake in the festivities.

Many long-standing employees who have been part of the hotel’s journey since its opening fondly recall unforgettable moments and distinguished guests. Marten Schwass, Managing Director, highlights the hotel’s enduring legacy: ‘Taschenbergpalais opened as Saxony’s first luxury hotel and has since earned an esteemed reputation both locally and internationally. As a team, we are immensely proud of this and look forward to an equally successful future.’
